City Hall – Integrated Sustainability Action Plan (ISAP)

Hello St Pete Burgers:

On Monday, November 21st at 3 pm the St Pete City Council will have a very important vote to put the City of St Petersburg on an action path to 100% Clean Energy, to be a 5 STAR community and to put action into the Mayor’s Executive Order on Sustainability.  These all come together in the Integrated Sustainability Action Plan (ISAP) and we need your help to ensure a strong YES vote.  Now more than ever, local Cities need to lead the Clean Energy and Sustainability movements – cities like St. Petersburg!

Please consider coming to speak in support of the ISAP, if you can not attend, please write or email the St Pete City Council members.

There are 3 intertwined resolution votes that will take place on November 21.  We believe resiliency and energy efficiency will pass unanimously, we need to get the ISAP there too!

  • $250,000 towards the ISAP
  • $300,000 towards a matching Pinellas County amount on Resiliency Study
  • $250,000 towards Energy Efficiency analysis, retrofits and upgrades

Attached is a sample letter with various subjects you can pick from on why should vote Yes on the ISAP, be careful not to duplicate sentences if you pick more than one subject.  As always, we encourage you to write in your own words, from your heart.  Please share with all your St Pete Burger friends, allies and acquantainces!   Also attached a recap of what the ISAP is and will do.

Thank you for all your help.  Save the Date – Friday, December 9th from 7 – 11 PM – we are having a celebration – here locally – due to all of your efforts – we can celebrate!

City Town Hall on Sewer Issues

As is well known in the Tampa Bay area, and to some extent on a nation basis, St. Petersburg has had substantial problems with sewer system overflows.

The City of St. Petersburg has developed a plan that addresses the problem and gives priority to providing necessary funding.  The Mayor’s plan includes $45 million of immediate funding and the expectation that $304 million will be spent over the next five-plus years to get the overall system where it needs to be.

Claude Tankersley, Public Works Administrator will conduct a Town Hall on this matter on December 6th, 2016.  All residents are invted to hear about the sewer system plans on:

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016
2:00PM at Isla Del Sol Y&CC

Letter from Treasurer

Hi Maximo Moorings neighbors! As we wind down the calendar year, we’re actually only about half way
through our annual membership drive. I am so pleased that ~50% of our Maximo households are members of
our Civic Association. This is a 6% increase from last year. Thank you, thank you, thank you! While I know 100%
membership is unrealistic, my goal is to continue to grow membership.

Are you one of our neighbors that simply forgot to send in your membership fee, or perhaps you’re not sure?
If so, this article is FOR YOU! So what category do you fall in?

1. Paid Member?  Thank you!
2. Don’t know if you’ve paid?  Drop me an email and I’ll look it up ( treasurer@maximo-moorings.com )
3. Not yet paid?  You can pay online via this website or mail your check to:

Maximo Moorings Civic Association
4905 34th Street South Box 207
Saint Petersburg, FL 33711

Becoming a member of your Maximo Moorings Civic Association at a mere $30 a year, enables continued
improvements in YOUR community. So where does your annual membership fee go? It covers a variety of
initiatives that contribute to beautifying our surroundings and bringing us together as a community. Expenses include things such as:

  • Lawn Maintenance (mowing, treatment)
  • Printing (our quarterly beacons and annual directory) and Postage
  • Landscaping (flowers, mulch and more mulch)
  • Replacement of the Flag in Fuller Circle every four to six months
  • Electricity to light our entrances and flag
  • Repair and upkeep for things that are damaged such as lights, sprinklers
  • Advertising (garage sale, annual meeting)
  • Community events (Fall Fest, Annual Meeting, December Hay Ride)

Do you have ideas on how your Civic Association can improve our neighborhood? We’d love to hear from you!

Send an email to treasurer@maximo-moorings.com

Thank you for your support!

Best wishes!

Developer plans at Home Depot Land

We caught this news story today.. this is excellent news!

A Tampa developer plans a mixed-use project on a high-profile parcel in St. Petersburg’s Skyway Marina District.

Phillips Development & Realty has a contract on the 9-acre site at 30th Avenue South and 34th Street South, where Home Depot had once planned a store before the recession hit and the company’s strategy shifted.

Pride Weekend

Pride Weekend at Flamingo June 25 & 26

Jack Dougherty contacted Maximo to provide a notice of activities at Flamingo next weekend:

This is the largest Pride celebration in Florida and given the events In Orlando we believe it will be the busiest Pride event to date.

At 12:30 AM on Sunday June 26th we will have 2 American Idol contestants performing at Flamingo — Blake Lewis and Elliott Yamin.  This will coincide with the parade ending downtown and will allow guests/customers to return to Flamingo for the concert.

We will do as much as we possibly can to keep the volume in check but we will like to request your patience with us during this time.

In addition, the parking at both the Skyway Mall and Marina Village will be full as we have shuttles running between Flamingo and the Pride event on both Saturday and Sunday.

Any issues or concerns please call us (727-321-5000)

Maximo Marina: May Update

May 2016 update received by the Maximo Management Team with Maximo Marina.

The letter reads:

Well, it is getting that time again, Summer, which means Hurricane season. I have been test running my generator at home and have gotten a few 5 gal gas containers filled. I would encourage all our slip and dry stack guest to start preparing for what ‘may’ happen. I know this area has been very lucky over the last few years, but being a 3rd generation Florida native and with 10 years in the Caribbean, I have seen the worst of Hurricanes.

This should be the last hurricane season at Maximo with the existing structures, whew!! Speaking of that, we have been approved for all our permits, no small feat, and either have them in our hands or they are on the way. Thank you, Chris Ahern, who is the Project Development Manager here on site and will be heading up the entire process through completion. Chris works for a sister company of IGY called Applied Technology Management (ATM) and even though living in Tampa and also being a Florida native, Go Gators, Chris has been involved in several of our major projects, including Dubai, you know that thing they built in the ocean called ‘Palm Island’. After looking at the condition of Maximo, we knew we needed the ‘Big Guns’.

Chris has informed Joey and myself that his intention is to start the phasing with the Fuel dock the Southeast wall area and possibly Sailfish dock. The demolition is still scheduled to start in September, however the Contractors may start staging in August. As soon as we get conformation as to which parking areas, utilities, dredging, and other area affected, we will get the word out.

Again, a gentle reminder, that during dredging, there will be a sulfur order associated with the process. We are working very closely with the dredging co. and the City to minimize this.

Maximo wants to think the organizers of the May Day Races at Ceridian for allowing us to volunteer. Over 500 runners that day, and they raised a good amount for Charity.

Maximo has also adopted the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, and anyone who likes Pelicans as much as Maximo Marina will understand why. We have set up a product donation box in the office for this volunteer organization, but would also like to ask for help on Saturday, June 11th. We will be leaving here at 8:00am and heading to the Sanctuary to do some landscaping, pressure washing and painting. Then we will be heading back to Maximo at 3:00pm for a Bar-B- Que party to thank all the volunteers. Maximo will provide the transportation, T-Shirts and supplies, and after party food and sodas, we just need your labor.

Be Safe,

Maximo management team
